In October of 2022, the Buffalo Bills (Zack’s team) were set to play the Pittsburgh Steelers (Abbie’s team). By coincidence, we had both made plans to be at that game, long before we knew one another. Abbie went with her friend and her dad, who decided to tag along at the last minute, while Zack, who had just moved to North Carolina for work, had to back out of going to the game when his company’s higher-up came into town.
Because Abbie’s dad joined the trip, their schedule shifted, bringing her home midweek in time for a hockey game she hoped to catch. That same night, Zack was at a downtown sports bar with coworkers after a team dinner, and Abbie after accidentally selling her hockey tickets decided to watch the game in her jersey at the same bar. Zack noticed her right away and teased that she and her friend looked like they belonged at the arena. One laugh turned into hours of conversation, and it became clear that God had set the scene. We may not have met at the football game, but the Lord had a better plan for our paths to cross.
From that night on, we were inseparable. Our second date was picking out a dog, three months later we moved in together, two years later we bought our first home, and on the day of our housewarming, Zack asked Abbie to be his forever. We believe Jesus is the foundation of our love, and that it was only by His hand that we found each other. What looked like missed chances was really His perfect timing.
